Long Ago... Long ago, a great knight from an unknown kingdom had found himself in the Lands Unkown, traveling on a dangerous and perilous quest: recieve a dragon's egg. It was a dangerous, and unforgiving quest, but the knight had found himself at the caves, and at it's entrance, the biggest dragon he had ever seen in his life. He knew that the knight had come for the egg, but instead, offered the knight a proposition he could not refuse. The offer was that the knight would get the egg, if he would carry on as the dragon's eyes. This was to be done by drinking some of the dragon's blood.
This of course was easier said and done for the knight, unbeknowest of the changes that would occur. It happened on his way back with the egg. His back hurt increasingly, enough to make his knees buckle, but shortly after, a giant pair of blue, dragon like wings appeared. His eyes turned an almost golden color. When he returned, cloaked, he was rewarded, only his wife knew of his new 'condition.' Shortly after, the two had children. Each one of them carried one of his traits. But, the dragon had main control over their father, making his children come to him. There, he made each of them drink a different dragon's blood, making each and every one of them different.
Over time, each one of these dragon children have either died, or made it on. It being dangerous for these children to live normal lives, dragons have often requested that they be guarded by these children. Each Guardian having their own weapon, unique to them, along with certain traits that dragons have, such as being able to smell magic, create fire, great swiftness, and more rarely , the ability to talk to dragons.

The only way they would be related is by the first Joshua, each child most of the time has married and had children with a mortal (normal human). If you are a dragon keeper, you may either be a pureblood (decendants of Mary and Alexandre who have kept the line alive and 'pure') or you can be half-blood. It is more common for the half bloods to be more powerful than the purebloods, due to halfbloods recieving more dragon's blood at birth from a dragon a keeper has reigned in for their child.
