The castle grounds were dream-like in the twilight as Rachel quietly made her way down to the lakeshore. She wore a very simple and plain dress under a light cloak with the hood pulled over her head. She'd managed to escape the confines of the castle and was quite enjoying the fresh air.
It was something unheard of for the young lady to sneak away from anything, especially the castle. Well, she was still on the grounds, so it wasn't technically leaving. A light breeze tugged at the small wisps of hair that fell in her face, making her smile ever so slightly. She cast a quick glance around as she came to the lake shore, feeling a little winded.
So what had driven the usually-good Blackwood daughter to leave the set safety of the halls of Avalon Castle? The pure desire to see the lakeshore. She had only seen it once before in her lifetime, long ago, before she first became sick. The picture did not exist in her mind and that was the one thing she wanted more than anything. Marriage was not very likely in her future, not in her condition, not in her instability.
To her, the lake's shore was beautiful to behold, and she was almost proud of what she did to do it…then she regretted it. She hadn't told anyone where she was going or that she was even leaving. She couldn't stay long…people would start worrying soon if not already. She just had to catch her breath again and she'd start back without delay.
